During his time as a crooked cop for the Philadelphia Police Department, Ron Previte and his partner were chasing a stolen car when the thief abandoned the vehicle and took off on foot. Previte was driving the car to the impound lot when the trunk popped open and he stopped and looked inside. He and his partner discover piles of twenty dollar bills, which all have the same serial number. For the next three months, Previte and his partner would drive out of the city and stop several times along the way to buy coffee, each time making their purchase with the phony twenty-dollar bills.
