On April 4, 1961, Carlos “Lilo” Marcello, godfather of the New Orleans mob, was arrested and flown, as the sole passenger, to Guatemala (the country Marcello had falsely listed as his birthplace). Marcello managed to re-enter the U.S. two months later via Miami, and continued in his criminal ways.
