In Mickie’s eyes, sometimes the rules need to be bent to be effective…other times the rules need to be broken entirely, like when you will trade a favor with a known criminal for their help in an investigation. Don’t worry, we’ll definitely be coming back to this a bit point later on in the story.

Mickie Potatoes: "Nothing much, just a favor from me."
Tommy Gunn: "He’s a criminal, right? Was that a good idea?"
Mickie Potatoes: "Sometimes you gotta bend the rules a bit."

Panel 2:
Tommy Gunn: "So what do we do with this now?"
Mickie Potatoes: "Nothing. Just hold onto it for safekeeping."
Tommy Gunn: "And tomorrow?"
Mickie Potatoes: "We go back to work. Nothing’s changed."

[The detectives get in the car to drive home for the night.]
Mickie Potatoes: [thinking] "Though the thing is, that’s not even remotely true. Everything is different now."
