“Pete the Greek” Diapoulos, bodyguard of Joey Gallo, was shot in the butt when his boss was killed at Umberto’s Clam House in 1972. Pete went directly from Joey’s funeral to a Manhattan courtroom for his hearing in a gun charge. His lawyer told the judge that Pete was going to have trouble, literally, sitting through his hearing. The judge smiled, understood, and postponed it a few weeks to allow for Pete to sit down fully during his hearing.
