The Cal Neva Resort and Casino, is a resort and casino straddling the border between Nevada and California on the shores of Lake Tahoe. The original building was constructed in 1926 and was a very colorful casino property that matched up with Vegas during it’s heyday. Once gambling came to the Cal Neva in 1928 the property’s stateline status became a benefit for gambling. If county sheriffs were to raid the lake from either the California or Nevada side, guests would simply move to whichever side of the room was safe. In 1960, entertainer Frank Sinatra purchased the Resort alongside Dean Martin and Chicago mobster Sam Giancana.
