Philadelphia mobster, “Skinny” Joey Merlino, once strong-armed a group of local hijackers and demanded they give him part of each tractor-trailer load they smuggled out of the cargo terminals. Merlino was taking hundreds of ceiling fans off a tractor-trailer load somebody else had stolen, then sending out his associates to sell the fans on street corners. They’d be selling the fans for twenty bucks each, when you could get them at Home Depot for sixty.
