In 1983, Greg Scarpa Jr. devised a scheme to eliminate Sal Cardaci, whom Colombo family members suspected of being an informant. Known as “The Hammerhead,” Cardaci operated as a low-level car thief in Brooklyn. His demise came swiftly when a .357 round ended his life at close range. Following Cardaci’s assassination by Scarpa’s crew, his remains were discreetly interred beneath a Bensonhurst storefront, as reported by authorities. Among the forgotten, Cardaci found his final resting place in the basement of Mike’s Candy, an unsuspecting convenience store.
