During Prohibition, George Remus built one of America’s largest whiskey distribution networks. Historians believe that Johnny Torrio’s and later Al Capone’s Chicago Outfit purchased large quantities of Remus’s bourbon, often through legitimate business fronts. One such front was Al Capone’s used furniture business, operated under the name “Al Brown.”
