Anthony and Joseph Peraino, identified as members of the Mafia, have been highly successful in the film production and distribution business. They’ve utilized frontmen, including non-members associated with their Mafia family, to establish companies in Florida and New Jersey for distributing obscene films they had stakes in and pirating successful films made by others. Due to legal issues, Robert DeSalvo, an ex-convict, served as their main frontman until fleeing to the Bahamas. The Perainos controlled many of these companies through various means, including having their accountant on-site and directing operations personally. Some film producers have resisted Mafia distribution, facing consequences for their defiance.
